I grew up in a small town in the middle of the Netherlands, spending most of my time outdoors—either playing in my (grand)father’s workshop/barn or playing football with friends. When I was young, I fixed bikes, built treehouses and water rafts, constructed Lego stadiums, and did a lot of model building. Not always with the best results, but it kept me busy, and in a playful, learning way, I got better and better. As I got older, my work became more professional, and I decided to enroll in the Hague School of Arts – Interior Design (KABK). After half a year, I switched to a more practical learning approach and began studying at the Rotterdam Wood and Carpentry College (HMC).
There, I learned how to work with wood, discovered various other materials, and designed and created my first furniture pieces. Since my goal was to earn an art school degree, I continued my studies after graduating from HMC Rotterdam at the Utrecht School of Arts, Department of Product Design. In 2009, I was able to graduate as a Bachelor of Product Design from the Utrecht School of Arts (HKU).
Translating sketches into manufacturable products.
Enjoying the outdoors, preferably with beautifully designed products.
I enjoy spending my free time with my children.
I have worked for several international furniture brands as a designer, production specialist, and technical engineer. I have designed children's furniture, outdoor furniture, various interior items, and even kitchens. I specialize in developing new products, finding the perfect production partner for designers or brands, and setting up serial production. I am a professional in technical drawings, quality control, and experimentation with (re)new(ed) materials and techniques.
I love designing new furniture, interior products, and surroundings indoor and outdoor, testing new materials, and being creative in my workshop. Whether you are a furniture brand, an enthusiastic interior products company, a material producer, or someone searching for a one-of-a-kind piece for your home or office, don’t hesitate to contact me. I am thrilled to work with all kinds of companies and individuals and would be happy to present my portfolio to you. And if it doesn’t fit directly, I can design something especially for you! My creativity isn’t limited to furniture—I'd love to design buildings, gardens, interiors, or large art pieces. Nothing is too big for my imagination. There’s always room for ambition and future projects!
Additionally: If you are a designer, furniture brand or factory, I would love to connect. It’s a pleasure to help companies set up production in Eastern Europe, and I have an extensive network to assist with that. I also work with large factories in Asia, so please contact me and share your dreams. Together we can make history!
In addition to my work for various clients, I can often be found in my workshop, where I work with my hands. I constantly strive to renew myself, drawing inspiration from nature, architecture, fashion, and vehicles. I regularly visit art fairs, furniture fairs, galleries, museums, and major cities to stay inspired. To clear my mind and think about new ideas, I take my dog for a walk. Inspiration comes from everywhere—sometimes, I even get inspired while sleeping. A notebook is always close by.
